gum resin

A gum-resin derived from an unascertained umbelliferous plant.

The said concrete juice is called a gum-resin; an improper name, as it gives a false idea of the nature of the substance.

It yields a valuable gum resin, which is much used in perfumery (Pastinaca opoponax).

It exudes from the Styrax benzoin by wounding the tree, and drying, becomes a hard gum-resin.

Olibanum is a gum resin, used to a limited extent in this country, in the manufacture of incense and pastilles.
